Gene Parrish dies at 82

The Los Angeles Times reports today that Gene Parrish, a longtime host of classical programs on KUSC in Los Angeles and of an international jazz show, passed away Jan. 2 at the age of 82.

Parrish joined the station in 1984 after getting his start at KQED in San Francisco. At that station, he hosted and co-produced broadcasts of the San Francisco Opera. He also went on to host a jazz program for Radio Netherlands.

KUSC is planning a memorial broadcast at 4 p.m. Jan. 24, to be repeated at noon the following day.
