How Many Are Listening to Radio? Who’s Making Money?
Some surprising statistics from a Jan. 19 post in radio-info.com. Look carefully at where the real revenue is. I would say radio is not dead yet!
Brooklyn Rider, and Hope Springs Atonal
When my grandfather was in his 80s, he would go every two weeks to get a vitamin B-12 shot. For about two days he would be energized and full of the dickens. Well, a great concert or a fascinating piece of music can do the same thing for you.
“In this economy”
If I’ve heard it once, I’ve heard it a hundred times, “We’ll be lucky to achieve our goals in this economy”.
We’re all in the same boat, this challenging economic boat – in the doldrums yet relatively secure, generally insulated, and comparatively safe – not untouched mind you, but our lifestyles are barely altered – we’re [...]
WQXR Tops the Charts
For all the grumbling in New York City about the new WQXR, the news is pretty fabulous. The station ranked No. 1 of ALL public radio stations in the December Arbitron listings. And people say that classical music on the radio is dying. hah!
Redefining Intimacy
Dear all of you,
Most New Year’s resolutions involve weight loss so this is not meant to offend. When I think of all of me, a resolution or least some resolve to lose a little weight may be in order for this blogger. Not a lot, just enough to make my new jeans more comfortable. Now, [...]

We’ll be reducing the registration fee this year to assist stations affected by the economy (aren’t we [...]

He is on the ground doing the actual work of running a station which makes his perspective invaluable. [...]
Buzz in Orlando About WMFE Dropping Classical
Your radio bloggers got super busy and haven’t managed to post over the last several days. Our apologies!
Radio-Info.com reported earlier this week that dual format station WMFE in Central Florida is considering dropping the music from its FM side and going all news/talk. They do have a 24/hour HD stream. The rumor came from the Orlando [...]
Must Read: Radio Done Right
The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) is meeting in Philadelphia this week, and with the recession and general media discouragement pervading our field, they decided to put together a positive message — much needed! The result is a booklet called Radio Done Right, which you can read online by following the link. I highly recommend [...]
The Continent’s Only Radio Orchestra Back in Business?
A year ago we reported on the demise of the CBC Radio Orchestra. Now it looks as though the orchestra may have new life. Time will tell, but the orchestra members have reunited with the help of Montreal venture capitalist Philippe Labelle, and while they may not have their airtime restored (airtime is expensive real [...]
