Morning Announcer/Producer: Serves as Announcer/Producer and Master Control Operator during on-air shifts. 

  1. Serves as announcer and master control operator during local music programming and live or taped network (and other acquired) programs.  Monitors transmitter performance and maintains transmitter program logs. Participates actively in on-air fundraising campaigns. Reports (or solves) programming or equipment discrepancies or problems as they occur. During non-business hour shifts, takes responsibility for overall FM operations and monitors security.
  2. Music Programming: Selects the music to be played on the air during the morning shift (Note: Morning Classics requires considerable programming expertise and good musical judgment.)
  3. Writes and produces program promos for various programs and program segments, as assigned; takes part as participant in, voice-over talent for, or host of other WNED-FM programming, as scheduled; participates actively in on-air fund-raising during scheduled  membership campaigns, as well as off-air promotional or fund-raising activities (meet-the-public season preview events, for example), as required.
  4. Performs administrative duties (listener correspondence, record keeping, filing, etc.) related to position; and performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Required:

  • Excellent on-air skills and knowledge of broadcast operations and standards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of classical music and the concert world.
  • Previous experience in classical music radio preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree in music, broadcasting or related field.
  • Familiarity with current production and editing software highly desirable.
