I wanted to post Monday, but it was such a blur! For the final post from this year’s Cliburn, I post the final two parts of my conversation with James Conlon, and I edited a two part audio clip of the closing ceremony complete with wild (and very frank) opinions, Van speaking, the awarding of medals and my brief interaction with the Gold medalist(s) at the closing reception. A little Rachmaninov thrown in also!!

It’s hard to believe it’s over and I have had a day to think about the results. I want to write about the tied Gold medal and the significance this time as opposed to when it happened in 2001. I believe that we witnessed something extraordinary. I will wait a week or so but will definitely get back to it. I want to thank everyone who helped me with their time in allowing me to interview them, I had a blast, and now time to Soundoff!…….for now

We lived in the Fort Worth area for more than 20 years and the Van Cliburn, The Bass Hall, The Worthington and all the trappings of the competition bring back a lot of good memories for me. I listened and watched many of the sessions of the competition on the internet live broadcast, and today I was really pleased to find out that they will continue to be available as archives for at least a year. ALL of the recitals, chamber music and concertos are there, and some other material too. The site is http://www.cliburn.tv
