My class brings current blog posts and/or articles to debate, 3 on Tuesday and 3 on Thursday.  In the clips below first Mackenna and I discuss the perception of what an entrepreneur is from an article by David Cutler, author of the soon to be released Savvy Musician.  Then 3 of them on Tuesday brought in an article about Michelle Obama’s speech given in Pittsburgh about the arts.  We kind of disagreed on what the impact will be, or if there will be any at all….

First in this article by Dr. David Cutler he goes to bat for an entrepreneur as not just a business person but also a true artist.  It’s a shame the word impresario is not used much any more, it just sounds more artistic to me.  Who can forget this gem though:

“The problem with the French is that they don’t have a word for ‘entrepreneur.’”
George W. Bush

Mackenna herself is in a band who is trying to make it, so I am glad she picked up on this article and David’s soon to be released book the Savvy Musician.  Here is our back and forth:

Next nearly the whole class jumps in to discuss the Michelle Obama speech in Pittsburgh last week.  As you will hear I am not as enthused and believe there is a comparison to her speaking out on health care also, although to her credit, this is not the first time she has spoken about the arts, so it is a passion of hers:
