National Search for KHFM PD

Job Description:

AGM-Nevada LLC is currently searching for an experienced Program Director for its KHFM – Classical Format Station. Job duties include: Determine type, length, and time of programs, songs and/or features and does so in keeping with station format; Evaluate programming available from distributors, syndicators, and independent producers to recommend acquisitions for broadcast. Develops and maintains relationships with recording companies and distributors. Establishes work schedules for on-air staff and schedules remote broadcasts in conjunction with client requests and staff availability. Auditions and hires talent in conjunction with HR Department and company hiring practices. Fills out regular (monthly, quarterly etc. ) BMI, ASCAP, SESAC etc. reports. The Program Director also makes sure that the Public File is updated each quarter in compliance with the FCC rules regarding the information to be kept in the Public File. Position is full-time plus benefits. Salary D.O.E. AGM is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications: Requirements: must have a broad knowledge of classical music; strong leadership skills; team player attitude and experience with Scott’s Studios automation system.

In other KHFM news, the station’s owner, American General Media has promoted Jeff Jacot from PD of Classic Hits KABC to Operations Manager of four Albuquerque stations in AGM’s cluster, including KHFM.   Tom Taylor at radio-online.com reports that Jacot will oversee KHFM’s programming.

Jacot has served as PD since 2007 and will now be responsible for all programming on all four stations. He will continue as KABG’s and KDLW’s PD as well as host of Jeff & Jamie in mornings on KDLW.

  1. I wish them a sincere “good luck” in this search. To put it mildly, KHFM isn’t back to the level of quality it had when you were there, Marty (be it noted that that’s an awfully high bar, though, and that ain’t flattery, it’s the simple truth), but I will give them credit: they are TRYING. They have moved away from a lot of the mistakes and flat-out ugliness of the management transition, have tried to make things interesting in their own ways, and never to be forgotten, have simply continued to air classical music — no small thing in a time when other classical stations are having the plug pulled, and contrary to fears a lot of people had.

    Let’s hope they find somebody really good in this search.
